WHO WE ARE

Smile With Gambia was set up with the sole purpose of bringing smiles to those less fortunate in the Smiling Coast of Africa, The Gambia. The Gambia is one of the least developed countries across the world with 48% of its population currently living in poverty. At Smile With Gambia we work with our team on the ground to provide help directly to those who require it most.

The roots of Smile With Gambia were sewn in April 2019; we all met in The Gambia whilst volunteering on an orphanage development programme. The sincerity, generous nature, and infectious smiles of everyone they encountered left us in awe. Despite daily struggles to provide their families with food and clean water, they maintained a smile on their faces and kept their faith in the Almighty. The smiles of these people filled the groups hearts with joy.

Once the programme ended we stayed in close contact forming a tight bond only explainable by the effect of such an amazing experience. We constantly reminisced of our time there and yearned to go back. From this yearning to help, Smile With Gambia was formed.

Smile With Gambia started off with an initial project of building a Mosque and a few classrooms. The positive feedback encouraged us to run a Ramadan initiative in April 2020 to provide food packs to the poor and needy. Since then with your support we have grown to deliver a number of projects and hope to continue to serve those who needs us.

WHAT WE DO

We work with those directly on the ground in order to provide basic amenities for those who truly need it in The Gambia.
This ranges from;
  • Food Packs - Ensure essential food is provided to struggling families.
  • Fresh Drinking Water - Ensure clean water is provided through our ongoing Clean Water Supply programme.
  • Orphanage Development - Provide a safe living environment for orphans. (Currently under development in 2021).
Your donations provides all of this, whilst our support team in England make the arrangements. We always try to keep you thoroughly updated, and our team in The Gambia work hard to deliver.
We are constantly striving towards our long-term goal to ensure every Gambian continues to spread their beautiful smile. We aim to achieve this by providing direct humanitarian relief and support for vulnerable groups, through the construction of much needed infrastructure, such as, praying facilities, orphanages and boreholes.

How We Do this

Smile With Gambia operates on a strict 100% donation policy. This means that every single penny you donate, to any of our projects, goes entirely to that cause and those who need it.

Since inception, all admin costs have been paid by the Founder’s and Trustees, affirming the dedication to maintain a 100% donation policy. This means all small and large admin fees, transfer costs, as well as the time spent ensuring project completion, are covered by the those behind the scenes.

We aim to provide you with a personal experience; keeping you informed from the moment you donate, up until project completion. You will be updated with progress pictures/videos at each stage. All our projects are handled with complete transparency, as we will even return funds to donors in case any projects ends up being less than original quoted price.

We are very fortunate to have an excellent team on the ground in The Gambia who, on your behalf, arrange for the successful delivery of your donations.
